Steve Mason was doing more then just stopping pucks for the Philadelphia Flyers this week.
The veteran goaltender also helped a 13-year-old goalie in need whose gear was stolen on Monday.
According to Quinte News, Jake Mattice had his equipment stolen from his father’s car in Belleville.
A GoFundMe account was created to raise money to replace the equipment of Mattice – a goalie for the Belleville Junior Bulls.
After the story was posted to Facebook, it caught the attention of Mason. He got in contact with Mattice’s family, and bought Jake a new set of pads, blocker, and trapper.
Jake will receive the new gear on February 4.
Mason, who hails from Oakville, which is about 223 kilometres from Belleville, will undoubtedly gain some more fans for his good deed.
