Wednesday night’s EFL Cup semi-final defeat to Southampton was compounded by a 2-1 reverse at the hands of Paul Lambert’s men, and Jurgen Klopp’s side have won just one of their eight games this calendar year.
Klopp made nine changes for the visit of the Championship side on Saturday, but an unfamiliar lineup struggled throughout, and Shearer was far from pleased with the Reds’ approach to the competition.
