I was at Neiman Marcus when I noticed it was lunchtime, and then I suddenly realized I was hungry. I rushed for the escalator to find a place to eat. That’s when I spotted the department store’s restaurant, Mariposa. A few moments later, as I was about to take my first sip of a Bloody Mary, the popover landed on the table.
“I didn’t order this,” I said.
“Of course you didn’t,” the waitress replied. “It’s on the house. Is this your first time here?”
Although I liked hearing her response, I wasn’t really waiting for her answer. My hands had already instinctively grabbed the hot Yorkshire pudding and begun pulling it apart to release any steam that was building up inside. I grabbed my knife and started slathering it with whipped strawberry butter, a wonderful little touch.
