CLOSTER — Plans for a JPMorgan Chase Bank near Closter Plaza on Ver Valen Street were approved following the settlement of a lawsuit between the shopping center owner and a neighboring church.

Centennial AME Zion Church had filed a lawsuit to the Superior Court in Hackensack on Jan. 4, the same day an application was before the Planning Board. The lawsuit involved the church’s designation as a co-owner on the bank’s site plan application — a designation that the church alleges was included without its consent — as well as an issue of payment for use of its parking spaces, Ryan Linder, an attorney representing Centennial AME Zion Church, has said.

Linder said the specific financial terms of the settlement were confidential.
