This is the first visit to The Gambia by Prince Charles or Camilla, and they are visiting in part to celebrate The Gambia's return to the Commonwealth in February 2018.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall began their tour of Western Africa on Wednesday, landing in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia.

After their arrival, the couple who was received by President Barrow attended an official welcome ceremony at the State House, where Prince Charles gave a speech talking about the wonderful welcome they received and the relationship between The Gambia and The UK.

It seems like Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles, have taken a page out of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's book when it comes to royal PDA.

In the evening the royal couple attended a reception held by the British High Commissioner, Iain Walker.

The royal pair will fly to Ghana on Friday and to Nigeria on November 6. The last visit was by Princess Anne in 1990.
