This is the first visit to The Gambia by Prince Charles or Camilla, and they are visiting in part to celebrate The Gambia's return to the Commonwealth in February 2018.

Who else Prince Charles will meet with a number of British Ghanaians in the business, arts, culture and media industries.

The guard was mounted by 96 men and three officers, led by Captain Darlington Nana K. Koomson.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that First Lady Melanie Trump of the United States had also visited Ghana recently to promote her "Be Best" child welfare initiative.

A visibly elated Prince Charles was seen in a hearty chat with President Akufo-Addo about the pictures, which showed him in military uniform inspecting a guard of honour in Ghana.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall began their tour of Western Africa on Wednesday, landing in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia.

After their arrival, the couple who was received by President Barrow attended an official welcome ceremony at the State House, where Prince Charles gave a speech talking about the wonderful welcome they received and the relationship between The Gambia and The UK.

It seems like Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles, have taken a page out of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's book when it comes to royal PDA.

In the evening the royal couple attended a reception held by the British High Commissioner, Iain Walker.

The royal pair will fly to Ghana on Friday and to Nigeria on November 6. The last visit was by Princess Anne in 1990.
