On Tropical Storm Kirk, the NHC states, "Kirk is moving toward the west near 14 miles per hour [22 km/h] and a westward to west northwestward motion at a similar forward speed is expected to continue through tonight".

Hurricane Isaac along with concurrent storms Hurricane Helene and tropical storms Gordon and Joyce were all relegated to obscurity by Hurricane Florence. It is 545 miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands and still has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Kirk chugged across the southern Atlantic on a westward heading toward the Lesser Antilles.

Forecasters say Kirk will begin moving more quickly across the ocean as of Tuesday and is expected to strengthen in the next two days.

Upper-level winds are expected to increase, limiting chances for additional development while the system moves near the southeastern US coast.

As for the other storms forecasters are watching, a broad area of low pressure now located about 200 miles south of Bermuda is barely producing showers as of the 8 a.m. advisory.

But in the center's 11 a.m. advisory, that system jumped to name status: Tropical Storm Kirk.

Kirk will be moving over increasingly warmer waters and through a relatively low-shear environment for the next 2-3 days, which should allow for some strengthening, according to the NHC. Kirk has hit warp speed today, now moving at 23 miles per hour.

Tropical Depression Eleven is still expected to dissipate in the next day or so, without causing problems for land, the center said.

"That means even if this does develop, it will likely miss Florida and move north, impacting the Carolinas", News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said. It gives that disturbance a 50 percent chance of developing in the next five days. It is about 1,270 miles west of the Azores and has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.
