Last season's champions, Manchester City are the opposition for Unai Emery's first competitive match in charge of the Gunners.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has named defender Laurent Koscielny as his main captain, with Mesut Ozil listed as one of four vice-captains.

Two summer signings will line up for the Gunners at the Emirates in the first Premier League encounter of the post-Wenger era.

"In my career I want leaders..."

Guardiola's City, who won the Premier League with a record 100 points last season, begin their next campaign at Arsenal on Sunday.

Arsenal's first team left backs aren't available, Sead Kolasinac is now injured and Nacho Monreal just returned to training so he isn't ready for the match against Pep Guardiola's men and the manager has hint that Ainsley Maitland-Niles could be chosen in that position on Sunday.

Alexis Sanchez wants Manchester United to target experienced players like Arturo Vidal
Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen believes Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez are set for a "defining season" at the club. Starting off the season well is key for any club, and the pressure is on Manchester United and manager Jose Mourinho .

Asked by reporters the players who could still leave this month, Emery was quoted as saying by the club's website, "Today, we had a meeting with the players to close all the possibilities to leave or come with more players".

'Winning is the best motivation and we will try to continue what we have done.

With European transfer windows still open, Emery said goalkeeper David Ospina, forward Joel Campbell and right-back Carl Jenkinson could still leave.

Emery also dodged a question about whether Wenger has sent him any messages at all going into the season, saying only that he wants to build on the Frenchman's legacy. "I have confidence in myself, and also I can give them the confidence".

"We are working to improve each match and each training session". This, more often than not, landed them in trouble when they faced fast attacking teams. I believe in me, I believe in the players, I believe in the club.

He faces a Guardiola who is now fully into the swing of things at Manchester City and had an unparalleled domestic campaign previous year where City racked up 100 points.
