Cape Town - Aaron Ramsey says his agent is now in talks with Arsenal over a possible new deal at the Premier League club.

"But we're yet to come to an agreement so that's something that my agent and the club are discussing to try and get something done. I still have a year left and I'm really happy playing here", the 27-year-old midfielder said during Arsenal's pre-season trip to Singapore.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ramsey said: "We'll see what happens, but my agent and the club are talking".

Arsenal open their 2018/19 Premier League campaign with a home fixture against defending champions Manchester City on August 12 (2030 IST).

Matteo Guendouzi, Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Lucas Torreira have all arrived this summer and Emery is now set to trim his squad ahead of the new season.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery is confident that chief executive Ivan Gazidis will stay at the Emirates, despite widespread reports in Italy linking him with AC Milan.

Petr Cech said on Wednesday he was prepared to fight for his place as Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper and denied any contact with Chelsea over a return to Stamford Bridge. "Hopefully his situation will be resolved as quickly as possible".

However, the North Londoners will face stiffer tests in the coming season and a good test of their title credentials lies in wait when they take on La Liga side Atletico Madrid in Singapore on Thursday (1700 IST).
