A year after his last professional fight, Manny Pacquiao proved that making the welterweight limit is still not a problem for him as he weighed in a full pound below the limit at 146 pounds at the official weigh-in held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Saturday morning.
Pacquiao is challenging the 35-year-old Argentinian Matthysse for the latter's WBA Welterweight title.
"I said he (Pacquiao) is 39", President Duterte said, relaying his conversation with Pacquiao in an ambush interview after the fight in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sunday.
It was the first time in 17 years that Pacquiao had fought without hall of fame American trainer Freddie Roach in his corner, but he looked unfazed throughout.
Roque, in a statement, thanked the 39-year-old Pacquiao for bringing honor to the country anew through his 60th victory. "We did a good job in training and controlled ourselves", he added.
Chelsea To Raid Manchester City Prime Target
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte returned to pre-season training on Saturday, despite speculation over his future at Stamford Bridge. This one is probably more of a dream than a reality for Chelsea fans, but Sarri may be able to force a move through.
"You have proven time and again that you are not just a public servant, but one of the greatest boxers of all time", the President said. "Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose - today was my turn to lose, but I lost against a great champion and a legend".
"I didn't expect the win but I really trained hard for this fight for three long months", said the big-punching Tepora who extended his unbeaten record to 22 wins with 17 inside the distance.
"Like I said, I'm not yet done".
Lu Bin's courageous bid for a record world title win in just his second professional fight came crashing to earth when he was knocked out in the dying seconds of his battle with experienced WBA light flyweight champion Carlos Canizales of Venezuela. After a barrage of punches a storming straight right dropped Lu and the referee waved it off.
