George Clooney is 'recovering' after scary scooter accident in Italy

George was riding Tuesday morning on the Italian island of Sardinia when the auto turned in front of him and reportedly hit him.

According to state-owned Italian broadcaster TGR, the 57-year-old was was taking a break from filming in Sardinia when the accident occurred near the beach resort of Costa Corallina in Olbia.

Cloonster reportedly underwent an MRI, but did not suffer any serious injuries and has since been discharged.

Clooney is a Northern Kentucky native.

Italian media reported that Clooney was knocked off his bike by a vehicle and taken to a local hospital. In Catch-22, Clooney plays an Air Force commander named Scheisskopf.

According to multiple reports from local Italian media, the 57-year-old actor was injured in Sardinia, where he is now filming the mini-series, "Catch-22". Lawyer and human rights activist (also Clooney's wife) Amal showed up at the hospital and took her scuffed-up husband home, where he's now safe and sound recovering with his baby twins nearby.

An NBC News video segment said Clooney fell onto the hood of the auto. Fortunately, back in April, George Clooney stepped down from the lead role in the series, which Kyle Chandler took over.

Reports suggest he was treated at St John Paul II hospital before being released.

Cicognani told CNN he had spoken with Clooney, who said he was "fine" and would resume filming of a miniseries based on "Catch-22", the Joseph Heller book, in a couple of days.

Clooney is a frequent visitor to Italy.
