Rihanna's Met Gala Style Through The Years

You can still watch your favorite celebrities as they make their way up the iconic steps of New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art in the most attractive, avant-garde gowns.

When you think fashion goddesses, Rihanna's name definitely pops up on that list, so who better than the musician to take on the hosting duties of fashion's biggest night? The main objective though is to draw attention to - and fund - the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

"Anna, you famously host the celebrated Met Gala that takes place in Manhattan each year".

The Met Gala coverage on E! kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Hastings and Rye MP Amber Rudd made her first speech from the back benches of Parliament for six years today (Wednesday, May 2). But moving Sajid Javid in, after Amber Rudd took herself out, does not end the prime minister's problems.

She strutted the red carpet this time wearing a trouser suit and entirely ditching the traditional long dress.

For 2012's "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations" theme, Rihanna slithered onto the carpet in a sexy, sultry Tom Ford crocodile-embossed leather dress. With each passing year, the Met Gala becomes more over the top in theme and celebrity, which prompted us to look back to 10 years ago to 2008, when Twitter roasts weren't a thing, and celebrities could get away with mediocre to heinous style choices relatively unscathed.

In 2014, Rihanna made a decision to stick to her usual crop-top style but put a red-carpet spin on it. The 2008 theme was "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy", which is a touch sophomoric, but hey, it was simpler times. Fans can also follow all the Met Gala banter by checking out E! live streams of the event on the network's Facebook Live, E! Here she is pictured attending the "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art Of The In-Between" themed event in New York City on May 1, 2017.

Two years earlier was when Rihanna really cemented herself as a Met Gala star, channeling the event's theme of "China: Through the Looking Glass" in a breathtaking, embroidered canary-yellow gown by Chinese couturier Guo Pei. The "Stay" singer rocked an undo updo and understated makeup - letting her diamonds (including Jacob & Co. four-carat diamond studs and a 18k white-gold diamond choker and five rings) steal the show.
