In line with this vision, Facebook also announced an upcoming feature called "Clear History" that will allow users to see which apps and websites send the network information, delete the data from their account, and prevent Facebook from storing it.

"After going through our systems, this is an example of the kind of control we think you should have", Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post.

"But the initial functionality looks relatively basic compared to those offered by Match's services, so the impact Facebook has on the dating space will be down to how well it executes in this area", Mr Cordwell said.

According to Facebook, the feature will recommend potential matches based on dating preferences, common interests and mutual friends. The CEO explained that the app was designed with privacy and safety in mind from the beginning. That is a risk Facebook now apparently has to take as the company is still dealing with backlash from the Cambridge Analytica scandal, where the data of 87 million users was abused by a data firm linked to Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

Facebook has also taken a very bold move with the Oculus as they are introducing a new feature to let its users stream Netflix or Hulu into their headsets.

And to address the privacy implications, Zuckerberg reportedly said Facebook was building the dating service with an emphasis on privacy. The conference press release said more information would be available when the feature "begins testing later this year". Details of your dating profile will be private and not visible to your Facebook friends, connecting you with people who are not already in your circle. It wants to be everything all at once - a networking site, a messaging platform, an e-commerce platform, a news service.and now, a dating app.

They will be able to use a new Clear History tool on the platform, which will make viewing and deleting the information stored on users by Facebook much easier.

Benchmark also doubts that Facebook could easily match Match's product and consumer knowledge despite its massive trove of user data. Unlike other dating apps, this app will be completely focused towards building a real long-term relationship between 2 people. The new "Clear History" feature was built for this goal. Everybody was excited when they got hints of the upcoming launch of Facebook's new smart speaker.

"We're starting with something a lot of people have asked about recently: the information we see from websites and apps that use Facebook's ads and analytics tools".

"The reason behind this improvement is due to the overwhelming request from prospective users who are not too fond of Facebook and, because of this, refused to give online dating a try", a Bumble PR representative told Ars Technica.
