UFC Won't Punish McGregor Until Process Plays Out

News of the negotiations between Diaz and the UFC came less than 24 hours after his good friend Jake Shields claimed we'd see the TUF alumni back inside the Octagon.

UFC president Dana White has time and again questioned whether or not Nate Diaz wanted to continue fighting, but according to ESPN.com, talks are underway to try and lure him back to the cage with UFC 227 as the primary target.

McGregor's future, however, is up in the air after the fiasco ahead of UFC 223 that saw the Irishman attacking a bus that held several fighters and led to injuries that forced the cancellation of two fights.

Diaz, 19-11, hasn't set foot inside the Octagon since his UFC 202 loss to Conor McGregor, a defeat he vehemently contested.

"He's gotta be punished by the law first", White told TMZ.

The south wind will still be a bit on the breezy side, as well, sustained at about 10 to 20 miles per hour through the night. If any stronger storms were to pop up on Thursday, the chance would be more so confined to the eastern half of the region.

MMA Fighting are reporting that neither a lightweight title shot against Khabib Nurmagomedov nor a rubber match against Conor McGregor have been discussed for his comeback fight. "I don't know what's going to happen next but I would like to see it".

The UFC is now in the process of attempting to arrange an event in Nurmagomedov's native Russian Federation for the first time, and while there had been speculation that Moscow could play host to a fight between McGregor and the new lightweight champion, White insists that only one venue would make sense. In his next most recent bout, Diaz shocked the world by submitting McGregor in the second round of a wild fight. "If you do a fight that big, you gotta do it in Vegas", White said. "Khabib will fight in Russian Federation at some point, but it won't be that fight". There was an initial thought that the fight could take place in Nurmagomedov's home country of Russian Federation.

One thing White said for certain regarding that fight is that it won't take place in Russian Federation despite rumors to the contrary.

"So he's not looking at, in Brooklyn, generally, you wouldn't get jail time for this, especially if it's your first offense, which I understand this is".
