A couple of guys are actually part of the Record Store Day team that works on the website and organizes the entire worldwide celebration of vinyl. It has increased our contact with music lovers through out the region, allowed us to build our network of musicians locally and nationally, promote music and playing music to people that hadn't considered playing an instrument. Owner, Mark Carey, realising Limerick would be without a record store after HMV's departure made a decision to add one to his instrument store.

Dodds Record Shop participated in the annual Record Store Day parade in downtown Grand Rapids.

RSD is always full of special releases, and this year is no different.

This Record Store Day, East Nashville's neighborhood record shop, The Groove, is teaming up with ACME Radio to provide live performances and food trucks throughout the day in the stores "backyard".

Michael Kurtz, the president of a group of record store chains across the USA, invited several record store owners to a meeting in Baltimore to discuss the future of record stores among the rise of digital retailers.

"The biggest thing we hear from older people coming in is, 'I gave away all my records and I regret it.'" Howarth said.

More than 1,400 independent record stores in the USA will be celebrating the 11th annual Record Store Day Saturday and thousands more stores worldwide.

Record Store Day was started in 2008 as a way for the staff, customers and artists to come together and celebrate the unique culture of record stores.
