The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday took suo motu cognisance of the matter and sought a report from the Uttar Pradesh government by Thursday when the matter would be taken up for hearing.

On Monday, the father of the 18-year-old woman died in custody, prompting her to put the blame on Kuldeep Singh Sengar.

The Yogi Adityanath led-BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has been drawing flak from all quarters after a 17-year-old woman alleged that she was raped by Sengar, a sitting BJP MLA Bangarmau district in Unnao.

"It is their call if they want to continue living in Unnao or move to Delhi, where the girl's uncle lives", he said. I want to see all of them arrested, otherwise, I will kill myself.

TV news channels ran the comments made purportedly by the alleged victim's father before his death in which he claimed that he was mercilessly beaten up by the MLA's brother. Also, the video showed the deceased' back having serious wounds, but its veracity could not be ascertained.

Meanwhile, Sengar's wife Sangeeta met DGP Singh and demanded narco test of both her husband and the victim. This will help in ascertaining the truth and presenting the correct picture. In nearly a throwback to Swati Singh's fight back, Sangeeta Sengar has begun talking up the TV channels on Wednesday to fight for "husband's innocence".

"My husband is innocent.I have full sympathy with that girl".

"The SIT will go into the entire gamut of issues involved in the incident", ADG (law and order) Anand Kumar told a press conference, after the MLA's brother was arrested in Unnao.

An SIT probe has also been initiated into the case.

According to the media report, during the father's treatment in the district hospital, Unnao police allegedly forced his thumb prints while the victim was lying unconscious on a stretcher.

When confronted by the media, the MLA said that he had come to enquire whether his name had appeared in any of the First Information Reports (FIRs). The BJP MLA has rejected the charges as a conspiracy by his opponents. The bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud said it would hear the plea which has also alleged that the rape victim's father was tortured and killed in the police custody at the behest of the "ruling party" in the state.

The leader said that instead of arresting the absconding MLA, BJP government proceeded to arrest the father of the victim by calling him a listed criminal.
