As per some reports from the web, the next generation PlayStation 5 might be rolled out this year. The story previously stated PS5 may not run PS4 games, when the source stated that reports indicated PS5 games would not work on previous generation hardware. Of course, these plans could always change.
Two unnamed developers that Schreier spoke with claimed that they had knowledge of Sony's newest system, with both of them claiming the system wouldn't be out until 2019 at the very earliest. As reported by GameSpot, game developers have also not yet received any "devkits" for them to start working on titles for the new gaming console. If the PS5 follows the same time frame that would put a release in 2020.
After the recent SemiAccurate report, Kotaku has investigated the possibility that a PlayStation 5 could be coming in 2018 or 2019, ruling it out based on the different sources it was able to communicate with during and after the GDC.
House Speaker Paul Ryan announces he will not seek re-election

So even if a studio did have its hands on a devkit, not everyone at a studio might know about it.
It's been almost five years since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launched. The game will also ask players to make "tough, sometimes hilarious" decisions either in single-player or two-player co-op. However, the current state of the console industry - especially as it concerns releases like the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X - means that you can't really take anything for granted concerning the likely release date of an upcoming console.
