Kane: Tottenham's second goal should be mine

Tottenham Hotspur's Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen (C) is mobbed by teammates after scoring the opening goal during their English Premier League clash with Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent, central England on April 7, 2018.

Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane canceled out Mame Biram Diouf's goal to earn Spurs the three points.

The away side ultimately took all three points, however, with a 63rd-minute Eriksen free-kick going all the way in despite Kane - back in the starting XI for the first time since 12 March (AEDT) because of an ankle injury - trying to claim the goal, and Spurs held firm in the face of Stoke's late onslaught.

"I think it's very good news for the club, for the company it was a record for the club and was very positive news for Tottenham", the 46-year-old added.

"We've played Arsenal and Spurs in the last two games and we should have probably picked up points that we deserved".

Sometimes after a victory you can stop to think, "if we beat Chelsea why not against Stoke", you believe you can drop a little bit in your focus.

The London club also have a game in hand as they seek to finish second behind Manchester City.

"Our target is to finish in the top four, possibly second, which is better than third or fourth".

After the shooting, dozens of Crown Heights residents crowded around police lines, some apparently angry. Police said Vassell was killed by officers responding to reports of a man aiming a gun at pedestrians.

A goal in each half from Jonjo Shelvey and Ayoze Perez gave Newcastle United a precious 2-1 victory over Leicester City, a third win in a row that moves the Magpies into the top half of the league.

"It was my goal", Kane said.

Kane later tweeted: "Definitely claiming that goal, flicked off my shoulder on the way in".

Asked directly whether there is a contract problem with Alderweireld, Pochettino replied: "From what I know, no".

"I am happy with my salary", he added.

"We were excellent throughout the game up against a really good side", he said.

Paul Lambert has reiterated that he has been left impressed by the performances being produced by his Stoke team and the Scot is justified in talking up the application of his players since his arrival in January. But we can't spend too much time on it.
