Chicago Fire producer Dick Wolf released a statement confirming Brown's death after reports began to circulate. The Chicago Tribune revealed that the star passed away a little after 12 St. James Olympia Field Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

For now, we continue to send some of our thoughts and condolences in the direction of Brown's family and we applaud the entire One Chicago community for offering up support and care for her family during what has to be a very hard time.

Our thoughts are with DuShon's family during this hard time. Brown was best known for her recurring role as Connie, Assistant to Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker), on NBC's Chicago Fire. Please join us in offering DuShon and family support during this very hard time. Brown then went on to play Katie Welsh in a reoccurring role in Fox's hit show, Prison Break, which became a well-known role for the actress. Yet, on Friday, Brown was taken to the hospital after feeling ill and was later pronounced dead hours later.

Despite Court Orders, Trump Announces New Ban On Transgender Troops
The policy announcement outraged advocates for transgender troops, and the advocates vowed to fight the limits in court. Now, eight months later, what will happen to transgender people on active duty is still unclear.

Added Schroeder, "She brought laughter and joy to many, and she will be greatly missed". Hearing the news, the school principal Gregory Jones sent emails to parents about the actress' death. A longtime theater actor, Brown was also a guest "Prison Break", "Empire" and "Shameless". She also was the school's crisis counselor and led the Drama Starz Program. We used to get in so much trouble from the stage managers we worked with because we were cutting up so much.

Aside from her work on the current season of Chicago Fire, Brown's most recent credit to-date stems from 2017's Public Housing Unit, a televised film featuring former Chicago Fire co-star Kamal Angelo Bolden.
