With immigration on his mind, Trump heads to California

President Trump will travel to the "Sanctuary State" of California Tuesday; visiting the USA border with Mexico and inspecting various prototypes of his proposed wall while meeting with law enforcement officials in San Diego and Los Angeles.

Joining the activists at the park were San Diego city councilwoman Georgette Gomez and Democrat U.S. Rep. Juan Vargas, whose district covers the entire California-Mexico border.

The visit comes amid growing tensions between the administration and state over immigration enforcement.

The Supreme Court has well-established the principle, based on the 10th Amendment, that the feds can't effectively commandeer state personnel and resources to enforce federal law.

About 250 people marched in downtown San Diego in protest of the wall Monday evening. Standing in front of murals of Mexican revolutionaries and other Latin American icons, they chanted "We reject your hate!"

In January Garcetti was reported to be a 50-1 shot to be the next President in 2020 but he would be the first mayor in USA history to go straight to the White House. He's also sued to prevent construction of the border wall. Well, Mr. President, in California we are trying to fix that.

Eighth-seeded Missouri (20-12) opposes ninth-seeded Florida State (20-11) in West Regional action on Friday in Nashville, Tenn. Wins over Clemson, North Carolina and Florida impressed the Selection Committee, though, so the Noles are in the field of 68.

"When some people look at the U.S. -Mexico border, they see division", Faulconer said in his state of the city address in 2017. "Rather than allowing the border to divide us, we're building bridges that connect us".

The largest planned anti-Trump protest is scheduled at a San Ysidro Catholic church that offers a full view of the nearby border. He said his organization respects free speech and hopes Tuesday's rally will be safe for participants.

Speakers set to appear at the rally include gubernatorial candidate and Assemblyman Travis Allen, R-Huntington Beach, Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, R-Lake Elsinore, author and documentarian Trevor Loudon, and former Assemblyman Tim Donnelly. The Republican president will fly to San Diego on Tuesday morning and then head to the border region to review models of the type of wall he wants to serve as a protective barrier against illegal immigrants, drugs and smuggled weapons. He also will meet with border agents and officers to ask what they need, said Jonathan Hoffman, Homeland Security spokesman.

Vargas, who has voted twice to impeach Trump, told reporters he knew about "classified information" that would be used to impeach Trump related to Russian meddling in the USA presidential election.

"I'm glad the president's going to the belly of the beast", he said. "It's something that he's going to continue to push for". Jerry Brown, who accused Trump of "declaring war" on California.

Gov. Jerry Brown sent a letter to Trump Monday, saying, "California thrives because we welcome immigrants and innovators from across the globe". The administration has had a contentious relationship with California lawmakers and sued the state just last week over three laws it says makes federal immigration enforcement more hard.
