BJP national secretary Ram Madhav tweeted out a post saying people are taking down Lenin's statue and used the party's slogan for the Tripura elections, "Chalo Paltai" with it.

Days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in Tripura by dethroning the 25-year-old Left Front regime; the northeastern state is in the throes of violence on Tuesday.

"We are getting huge number of reports from different districts on Tuesday about BJP and IPFT workers attacking CPI-M members and supporters and demolishing their various assets", Das added.

The BJP has also indicated a massive change in the state's education policy by removing references to the Russian and French revolutions from school textbooks. Lenin's statue has been removed in Tripura. His biggest achievement though was carrying out a door-to-door campaign to project BJP as a viable alternative to CPM - a party that has dominated Tripura for 25 years.

South Tripura SP Ipper Monchak whilst interacting with the media said that the driver of the JCB, Ashish Pal, was arrested in the evening and let off on bail.

In Tripura, the newly elected members of BJP and its ally IPFT will meet in Agartala today to elect their legislative leader.

UN Accuses Russia and US of Mass Civilian Deaths in Syria
In remarks broadcast on state television on Sunday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said his forces would push on. But once again, regime forces stripped this convoy of all the medicines and medical kits it was carrying.

Immediately after the announcement, Deb accompanied by Gadkari met Governor Tathagata Roy at the Raj Bhavan and staked claim to form a BJP government.

CPI-M claims that the incident is an example of "Communist phobia" while BJP said that the statue was taken down by the people of Tripura who were oppressed by the Left.

A local BJP leader Raju Nath denied that the excavator was hired by his party and told the newspaper that the statue fell because of an "overflow of anger".

Mocking the BJP's rivals over their angry reaction to the statue's demolition, Singh said, "I never heard them say anything over the demolition of thousands of temples in the past, including those in Kashi (Varanasi), Mathura and Ayodhya".

"For years, there has been resentment against this statue of Lenin". It was built by the municipality and funded by the taxpayers' money.

Senior CPI leader D Raja said while one party may win and another party lose an election, it did not mean either could indulge in vandalism.
