Nigerian police says 18 killed in multiple bomb blasts

The suspected Boko haram bombers attacked a crowded Fish Market (Kasuwan Kifi) In Sabon Gari area of Kinduga township town at 9pm and detonated IEDs, killing 18 civiliansmostly children and injuring 70 people.

At least 21 persons were killed and 70 civilians were injured as multiple bombers struck Konduga local government area of Borno State yesterday, Civilian JTF Source's told SaharaReporters.

Mr Garga, further noted that the bodies of the victims have been deposited at the mortuary while the injured have been taken to the Konduga General Hospital.

The mayhem occurred late Friday when the attackers detonated explosives at Kasuwar Kifi, in the outskirts of Konduga town, reports Xinhua news agency.

However, the National Emergency Management Emergency (NEMA) zonal coordinator, Bashir Garza, put the death toll at 17 and 51 injured.

The attacks, which were launched between 8.30 pm and 9 pm, he said also led to 22 others sustaining various degrees of injuries.

"There were a lot of people doing last minute shopping when the suicide bombers hit the market", he added.

No group has yet to claim responsibility, though the Boko Haram militant group has stepped up its campaign of suicide bombing using girls, usually veiled, to blow up targets in Nigeria's northeast.
