Ahmad Khan Rahami, a naturalized United States citizen who was born in Afghanistan and lived in New Jersey, injured 30 people when one of his homemade bombs exploded in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood on a September night in 2016.

Hours later, in the Chelsea section of Manhattan at 23rd Street, another pressure-cooker bomb blew up inside of a Dumpster, blowing out windows of nearby buildings and projecting shrapnel hundreds of yards away.

Before lowering the boom Tuesday, Manhattan federal Judge Richard Berman said "it now appears, if you put two and two together", that Rahimi was spreading his hate during Friday afternoon prayer sessions that Berman let him attend during the trial. He said consecutive life sentences would not "show the world justice".

Police arrested Rahimi on September 19, 2016, after a shootout outside the Linden, New Jersey, doorway where Rahimi had been sleeping.

Rahimi's lawyer, Xavier Donaldson, argued that the court should impose a sentence of only 15 years or less on top of the mandatory 30-year and life terms.

Rahimi, 30, who formerly lived in Elizabeth, New Jersey, was caught bragging about his notoriety over a jailhouse phone during his trial, and he later sent a letter to a crony in Germany claiming that only "Allah will be my Judge".

Rahimi's first explosive went off on the morning of September 17, 2016, in Seaside Park, New Jersey, along a route for a Semper Five Marine Corps Charity 5K., No one was injured because the race had been miraculously delayed from its 9 a.m. start time.

I wanted to do it past year as well, wanted to play a heavy schedule , but the (rib) injury didn't allow me to do that. For Gerry McIlory, who worked three jobs at times as his son aspired to golf greatness, there is not much better.

He was convicted last October.

Rahimi is a naturalized USA citizen who was born in Afghanistan and lived in Elizabeth, N.J. Prosecutors describe him as acting alone, inspired by terrorist propaganda on the Internet.

Rahimi's father says he warned authorities about this son two years before the attack.

Pauline Nelson, a mother of four who was driving near the bomb when it went off, shot Rahimi daggers as she railed against his courtroom demeanor.

"Rahimi attempted to wreak havoc in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City".

Police also defused another device in Chelsea and found additional pipe bombs in Rahimi's hometown of Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he worked in his family's fried chicken restaurant. Rahimi and two police officers were wounded in the shootout.
