WWDC tends to be a software-focused event, but Apple may be announcing several new devices at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 5. There’s a remote possibility we’ll get a sneak peek of the iPhone 8, but based on recent reports, there’s a much better chance we’ll see a revamped a new Siri-powered speaker that will compete against Amazon’s legion of Alexa speakers, a revamped 10.5-inch iPad Pro and an update to Apple’s MacBook lineup. Mourning his father, O.C.’s Steve Johnson advances at French Open – Orange County Register

PARIS — Steve Johnson held everything in, all of it, until he simply could not any longer. Still mourning the recent death of his father, a tennis coach who helped Johnson learn the game back home in Orange County, the 25th-seeded American didn’t allow the jumble of feelings show outwardly. The first genome data from ancient Egyptian mummies is in

Modern Egyptians have more DNA from sub-Saharan Africa than mummies entombed in their country, according to the first genome data on mummies. The findings are helping researchers gauge the impact of history on Egyptians’ genetics. The international team of researchers analyzed DNA from 151 mummies from the archaeological site of Abusir el-Meleq. The site is along the Nile River in Middle Egypt. The mummies date from about 1400 B.C. to 400 A.D.
